Tomorrow, Kathleen Horne invites us to explore our Emotions as a Landscape. If you are feeling the call to explore your emotions deeper, just as they are in the present moment, this Art as Healing
Practice Workshop will likely benefit you. With all that is happening around us and to us each day, Art Making calls us back to a safe, and accepting, processing place - Kathleen is ready to hold that space for you. In August, she will continue the Art as a Healing Practice Series with two more workshops that call you to explore your Creative Self, and Your Spiritual Journey.
The Emotional Landscape
with Kathleen Horne, MA, LMHC, REACE, REAT
Tomorrow!
Monday June 27th
6-9 pm EDT
Online via Zoom
In this workshop, you will be invited to look within and explore your current emotional state. This is a powerful and helpful way to connect with yourself in the present moment, and bring your compassionate mindful attention to your inner experience.
By considering our emotions as a landscape, we are invited to move from the literal to the imaginal and to engage with the complexity of the inner territory and discover its wisdom through image-making and writing.
We will be taking a break for the month of July to rest, reflect, and reconnect with family. There will be no Workshops or Open Studios in July; and it may take a bit longer to reply to emails. Your Weekly e-news will still arrive each Sunday to inspire
you. We look forward to seeing you again, online via ZOOM, refreshed and ready, and we'll be eager to re-visit the creative space with you. We have many offerings happening in August and thru the fall; all of which can be viewed more fully on
our website.
Creative Wellness Service Initiative from IEATA
with Manju Jain and Aslam Khader
Monday August 2nd
6-8:30 pm EDT
Online via Zoom
Manju and Aslam will be facilitating a workshop using a design from the free, online, global, Creative Wellness Service Initiative that they launched from the Social Action Committee of IEATA. The workshop design is such that non-professional caregivers can be trained to facilitate unserved and underprivileged populations worldwide to benefit from the healing power of the expressive arts. The
workshop integrates positive psychology, healing traditions from around the globe, and neuroscience, and is delivered using the multimodal expressive arts process. We invite you to join this workshop to experience it and maybe sign up to become an IEATA Creative Wellness Ambassador or Guide.
Restoring Balance: Exploring Your Ecological Self Through Expressive Arts Practice
with Kathleen Horne and Tamara Teeter Napp
Thursday August 5th
10am-5 pm EDT
Online via Zoom
Explore the concept of your Ecological Self, through an intermodal, nature – informed expressive arts process. What is your relationship to the natural world? How has your ecological awareness been shaped and developed over time? Through this gentle and powerful process, listen deeply for any messages that are emerging, and come away with a commitment/intention. Our ecological self is our broad, expansive sense of self, related not only to other humans but also to our home—the living earth—and the nonhuman others that co-inhabit it. Come prepared to witness, to meditate, to make images, to move gently, to write, to share and collaborate. We will set a safe and accepting container for creative engagement with yourself and with others. No prior experience is necessary. Your willingness and full
presence are the only requirements.
Using simple tools – scissors, glue, magazine images, and mat board – you create cards that are uniquely yours. This process honors your own time, pace, inner-language and spirituality
We will learn about Expressive Arts Projects happening in Nepal and Kenya: Harambee Arts. Gloria Simoneaux, Rina Pratik, and Lillian Obonyo return to facilitate this workshop and share their
wisdom.
Fiona Chang joins us at the end of the summer months to
present a project launched in Hong Kong. Healing Our Home is
a Community Arts Project that helps to transform struggles, pain, helplessness, and sadness into healing resources through art

EXPRESSIVE ARTS THERAPY
Telehealth and in-person
Tamara Teeter Knapp, MA, REACE, NCC, MHC Intern
Expressive arts therapy is a multimodal, holistic approach to counseling. It acknowledges the complexity of human experience by facilitating the client in exploring all aspects of the self, by inquiring through the imagination and the body about subjective experience, and expanding the play space to allow for new possibilities and shifts in consciousness that lead to desired changes in one’s
life. More
OUR MISSION
Through workshops, programs, certificate training, and therapy Expressive Arts Florida Institute empowers individuals, groups and communities by cultivating the creative wisdom inherent in all.
