What is YOUR pathway to this work?
Consider that question now, wherever you are on your Expressive Arts journey.
Reflect and write, using these prompts:
- What draws me to this work?
- What am I longing for?
- Where have I come from?
- What am I bringing?
Honor your own journey.
What YOU bring to this work is vitally important.
I returned to expressive arts as a way of healing my own grief after a major loss and as a way to bring meaningful content to my students who were in great need of feeling connected in the world. Expressive Arts has continued to serve as a container for my life experiences and a vehicle for me to share my love of
creativity and connection with others. I believe that each person holds the wisdom and power of creativity within them; my passion is to help them discover it and use it in their lives and work. Tamara Teeter Knapp, Certified K-12 Teacher, REACE
I had found a creative path that actually worked for me just the way I was. I didn’t have to fit into it. I didn’t have to change myself. I learned that all I had to do was show up and trust the process. This was not always easy but through the expressive arts I found ways to heal those wounded parts of myself,
enlighten those parts that had gone dim, and let go of things that no longer serve me. I believe we all have an innate inner wisdom that is just waiting to be tapped into. If we listen to our body, our own being, we will find that we just might have had the answers all along. Victoria Domenichello-Anderson, MA, REACE
The longing for visual art expression didn’t awaken until I was going through a challenging time of transition. Suddenly, I just had to make art. I could only say “yes”. When I heard about an Expressive Arts training something echoed deep inside me. As a psychotherapist, I integrated the expressive arts
into my practice. A desire to spread this work into ever-widening circles, lead me to becoming an educator. Expressive Arts is a pathway to personal and global change, and it is a joy to share it in all possible ways.
