Our Professional Development series, with leaders in the Expressive Arts field might be just right for you!
We are excited to bring you Gloria Simoneaux, Founding Director of Harambee Arts, our May presenter!
This workshop will familiarize you with the Harambee Arts Expressive Arts methodology that focuses on a culturally sensitive, collaborative, and relational approach to working with different societies around the world. Using exercises that have been tested and proven successful at counseling sites and other contexts in Africa, Asia, Haiti and Mexico, the workshop addresses learning how you can successfully enter and engage a
different culture with respect, curiosity and wonder.
The workshop includes didactic and experiential components and you will be challenged to abandon the well-meaning, Western archetype that professionals who visit other cultures often bring. You will examine the Western need to know, to change, and to make a difference.
This is an interactive workshop! Show up ready to listen, learn, and share. The Zoom forum allows everyone to see everyone else, maximizing the opportunity for experiential learning.
It will NOT be recorded.
You will need a few very basic art supplies (oil pastels or crayons) and a notebook.
