Many of us in the Expressive Arts and related fields, whether students or professionals, do not have training in, or comfort with, establishing and running a business. Sherri bridges these two worlds, and brings a rare and valuable combination of skills.
With 30 years experience in the world of business, and 22 years in learning and development, Sherri is now the Chief Unlearning Officer at Positive Impact Force in Tampa, FL. She works to help leaders in the
community unlearn their focus on fixing problems and re-learn focusing on strengths and opportunities. Sherri holds Levels 1 and 2 Certificates in Intermodal Expressive Arts from
Expressive Arts Florida Institute.
In this short video excerpt, Sherri talks to Kathleen about the SOAR Process,
and her upcoming workshop.
Sherri will lead you through the SOAR process, with some image-making and writing, to discover your strengths, opportunities available, aspirations, and the results you want to achieve. We are really excited to offer you this wonderful opportunity to help you grow your business.
2 CEU’s for LMHC, LMFT, LCSW: 2 Elective credit hours for EAFI Certificate students.
This is a strengths-based approach to planning your sustainable expressive arts business, including creating a forecast and working with a budget. Sherri uses the SOAR framework created by Jacqueline M. Stavros and Gina Hinrichs, and integrates it with business strategy and, of course, expressive arts!
Who is it for? – This workshop is for any expressive artist / therapist/practitioner who is starting a business, thinking about whether starting a business might be right for them or who has started a business and is looking for the next step. Your business can be a for-profit or not-for-profit organization that needs an income to continue offering services. You do not need to
have a current plan, or business strategy, but you will need to have an idea of the products and/or services you want to offer.
What you will get: – You will receive a sample forecast document, and instructions on how to create art using the SOAR framework to focus on your Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations and a scorecard for the results you want to achieve.
How to prepare: – To prepare for this workshop, make a list any product/service you are currently offering, or want to offer in the future. You will need supplies to create visual art (mandalas, painting, Zen tangles, drawing, your choice) and a pen and paper for writing.
Thank you very much, Sherri, for creating and facilitating something that helps work through the logistical aspects of business, and still utilizes creativity. I really appreciated how flexible and simple the process was as it gave me the confidence to really move forward with my business.
Liz Pascoe, EAFI graduate, Expressive Arts Practitioner
