Children are now on summer vacation, and Tamara is preparing for her first session of
Kids Express Art Camp in just a week! it is a good time to share with you some ideas about why Expressive Arts is great for children, as well as adults!
First, the arts are fun. And, after the school year is over, it is time for some fun! The nature of expressive arts is imagination and play, encouraging kids to use
their whole bodies and their whole minds. Children are generally more connected with their creativity than adults are - it is their natural language - and, if we encourage them to continue developing their imaginative and expressive capacities, they will grow up to be creative adults.
I meet so many adults that don’t believe they are artists or think they aren't creative. My mission is to help children KNOW they are creative because I believe it is our birthright and it is the key to a better world. A creative child is a happy child! Teacher
In addition to the arts being a whole lot of fun, though, children develop essential skills through visual art, movement, music, drama, and writing (which are the essential components of Expressive Arts).
A couple of those skills are:
Problem-solving: Engagement in an art process - whether a painting, a story or a dramatic play - involves decision-making and problem-solving, every step of the way.
Building confidence: Creating something completely new
and original, in a loving, accepting atmosphere, is one of the best ways to increase self-confidence. The arts provide a wealth of opportunities.
If you are at a distance, consider finding some arts experiences over the summer in your community.
Two sessions to
choose from for this children's expressive arts adventure:
June 26-30 and July 10-14Mon-Fri 10:00 am-3:00 pm
Creativity abounds in
this fun and creative camp where children express, experiment, and explore creativity using a variety of art materials and processes!
Children will experience the creative potential of the expressive arts all week long: they will experiment with rhythm, engage their imaginations, and express their individual creativity. Children will explore visual arts of all kinds, music, movement, and drama - to
discover the magic of their own creative imaginations!
What you can expect: - A warm, enthusiastic welcome in our studio
