Published: Wed, 12/31/14

Dear

As we move from 2014 to 2015 we want to
take a minute to say
HAPPY NEW YEAR!  and THANK YOU!

As an expression of our thanks to you, here is an intention-setting process that you can use to bring in 2015 in a mindful way. We hope you will try it, and, if you wish, feel free to share the results in our Facebook Group.

The instructions are below, and also in this downloadable pdf. for you to keep.

May 2015 bring you peace, connection, and the realization of your dreams.
This intention-setting practice is adapted from our Kindle book:
Ten Steps to a Personal Expressive Arts Practice, available from Amazon.

Are you in the Sarasota area? To work more fully with your intention, attend our live Intention-setting event at Networking on Wednesday Jan. 28; 6:30 pm.

 SETTING AN INTENTION

Materials: your choice of art materials and journal

Purpose: setting an intention for 2015

Instructions:
Sit quietly, focus on your breath, and contemplate these questions.

As I move from this past year into the next:
  • What is my intention?
  • What is coming in to form in my life and how can I help it along?
  • What do I desire?
Breathe, and be with these questions, without necessarily seeking clear answers right away. Notice any colors, shapes, images that spontaneously arrive.

Then, turn to the art materials and explore these questions.
Use any art materials that attract you – collage, pastels, paint, clay, or anything else.
Work intuitively, following your creative impulses. Don’t worry if it doesn’t make sense just yet.
When your art exploration seems finished, sit with it, and take some time to gaze at it with fresh eyes and curiosity. Turn it so that you can see it from various angles.
Notice what you see, feel, and imagine.

Write:
Now write your intention. Write it in the present tense, as though it is already happening. Write out whatever comes, and then re-write, distilling your intention down to its essence, so that it is easy to say, and to remember.

Activate: Stand up and assume a stance that reflects your intention, and state your intention (out loud) like you mean it! This will help you embody it.
Return to your art, your intention and your stance on a regular basis.

Journal: Write about what you learned. Re-write your intention often.
