I am a vessel, gathering and weaving the gifts of the natural world.
Many paths flow together— like breath, like rivers - always finding
form..
Something unseen—
a quiet intelligence beneath the surface—
guides my life.
And I follow, listening
for what cannot be named.
As I reflect on this image, I see that my vessel is unique to me, just as the way I filter and
make sense of the world is uniquely my own. Each person's vessel is unique.
And in Open Studio, as we shared, I also became aware of another vessel—one that seemed to be holding all of us. I believe this, and it takes my breath away.
Part of me wants to
understand it more.
I want to be able to explain it.
This afternoon, while leafing through The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin, I came across this passage:
“Each of us has our own way of seeing this world. And this can lead to
feelings of isolation. Art has an ability to connect us beyond the limitations of language. Through this, we get to face our inner world outward, remove the boundaries of separation, and participate in the great remembering of what we came into this world knowing: There is no separation. We are one.”
(Rubin, p. 392, 2023)
Reading this felt like another way of naming what I had sensed in the studio—that quiet intelligence beneath the surface, guiding, gathering, and remembering us back into connection.
We invite you to experience and expand that connection by joining together in
ever-widening circles of creative community. Miraculously, perhaps, this collective vessel transcends geography and nationality, so let's keep growing those spaces together.
Our private Facebook group has been a little quiet lately, and we would love to feel your creative presence there. Expressive Arts Discovery, and Online Open Studio, and more, are also available to you. Let's keep building creative community support in the circles we gather in. It
makes a difference in our individual lives and in the world.
