We are at the turning point of the year, in the place where the light is now lengthening, the calendar will turn to 2026, and we begin again. This week it feels like time to rest. As I (Tamara) wrap up the holiday celebrations and imagine what comes next, I need a pause.
I imagine you do, too. As I reflected on this year and where I am right now, I feel a change in the rhythm, a yearning to slow down. I try to, believe me, but somehow things keep coming and I find it challenging to rest. In our last class, someone shared some wise words with us to help reframe the pattern of working to earn our rest. The question she offered is: "Have I rested enough to do my best work?" The natural world does not earn rest. It is part of a natural cycle. As I reflected on this, these words and an image arrived: From frantic, busy, and bustling to snail's pace slow -a challenging transition One I am eager to brave,
with courage to trust that all which has not been finished, returned, addressed, managed, or begun will still be there on the upswing following the pause, the stillness my soul craves and will find the melody for. A new slow, easy rhythm gives space
between open notes that sing quiet soul praises- A breath and a rest for each heart's beat. I will be taking a rest this week and invite you to do the same. Notice how your own inner rhythm shifts and spend some time reflecting - in image, words, movement. Take your time. Enjoy the moments of pause between breaths, marks, and words on the page. Not as a way to "do more" but as a way to begin with intention, we invite you to
