Hello Creative Friend, This week we shared creative space with others in Open Studio and SoulCollage® and brought awareness to the diminishing light in the natural world around us as we approach the Winter Solstice. I (Tamara) chose a tea bag with these words on the tag: "It is the light in the lantern which shows you the path, not the lantern" (Yogi tea). My image had asked for blue watery waves, drops of watery
purple, and black around the edges. I had just been following my own inner impulses, not having any idea where they were taking me. First some blue, then wet-on-wet purple, then I had to have black behind the blue as I simply enjoyed each brushstroke and watching the paint go on the paper. At the moment I opened the tea bag, I was wondering where this image was taking me, almost feeling critical of myself for not making "something". The message I received helped me enter my imagination further
to see a little girl holding a lantern in this mysterious watery world. A girl like my younger self - I was holding the lantern. Suddenly, I could hear my creative wisdom speaking to me as if to say, "see, it is just right. Just keep following the impulses that arise." Something was moving through me and I just needed to stay with it. I felt reassured, more confident, and a shift take place within.
I am in a dreamy place walking on the waves that flow through. A watery world of wonder. I am called to follow the light into the unknown. The mystery is a friendly place. I trust the light that shines from my lantern. Our creative wisdom will lead us like the light from a lantern. We do not have to do anything but hold the lantern by continuing to engage with our full presence, listen and trust the impulses that arrive. I encourage you to try it. Stay with your own practice and see where it leads you. Let your own light shine out into the world through what you create. It will lead the way.
If you would like to share any elements of your arts practice with us, you can do that in our private Facebook group here. It is a place for witnessing.
