Hello Creative Friend, Here in Sarasota, it is graduation week for schools and some of the young people I (Tamara) know. Some I knew when they were born, some were in my second grade class and now they are finishing college, some are just entering college in the fall and imagining a whole new chapter opening as this one closes. As I
congratulate those in my life, I imagine all the things that are possible for them. Not that I know what those things are, but that there are so many possibilities. Then I reflect on how we can make places in our lives where things are possible. In my therapy practice, the question was raised "how is healing possible? What does it mean?" As I contemplated this, I realized that we create places in our lives where healing is possible. Using expressive arts we create the conditions for healing. We
can create physical spaces and inner places where we imagine possibilities. In essence, our imagination is a place of possibility. My friend Kristy has created her life's work around helping people make their homes into places that support the exciting possibilities awaiting them (Fizome it is called). We want our therapy offices, classrooms, and dinner tables to be places where we can heal, grow, and become who were meant to be. Possible comes from the Latin word possibilis which means "able to be done" or
"come into being". Rabbi Adina Allen's brilliant book The Place of Possibility sits on my side table. She describes how we can use our creativity to imagine what is possible, what is able to be done. Our creativity IS the Place of Possibility. It opens us up to awareness, insight, experience that we would otherwise not connect to. As personal and global events happen in and around, and we find ourselves managing more and more unexpected changes, it can be discouraging or confusing.
Or painful. Feelings like anxiety and worry can creep in. Rather than letting them take hold, we can view them as invitations to explore through our creative process. Get curious about them and creatively express them.
I see fresh bright green Empty areas, open spaces A story still
being written A bird pausing for a drink Reflection in the water. I see an archway to another world. Butterflies are replaces by a flutter of excitement -Tamara, 2025 Through our creative practice we can enter a place of possiblity and restore hope. Our images lead us through, provide refuge in the storm or uncertainty, and offer new possibilities to
consider. This week, I invite you to consult your creative practice, especially if you start to feel nervous, anxious, or worried but anytime you feel the call to enter the place of possibility and see what might be waiting for you there. Like entering a garden of blossoming flowers and trees in all stages of growth, there is sure to be energy to enliven you and help you on
your journey.
If you would like to share, you can do that in our private Facebook group.
Next week we're back with online and in person events! On Wednesday (June 4th) we have our next Expressive Arts Discovery workshop.
Access your intuition through guided meditation, artmaking and writing in this 90 minute guided online workshop. Our next SoulCollage® workshop; SoulCollage® and the Summer Solstice led by Diane Lampitt, is the same week on Friday, June 6th following In Person Open Studio. As the days grow longer and the sun reaches its highest point in the sky, the Summer Solstice invites us
into a powerful moment of stillness and possibility. In this workshop, we'll pause and reflect on what no longer serves us and plant seeds of renewal and new life that are best aligned with our inner truth. Enjoy just one or give yourself the gift of a full day of creative expression! Online Open Studio will return on Tuesday, June 10th after Kathleen returns from her trip in Europe! And for EAFI Students, we have group mentoring on June 11th. To see a schedule of all upcoming events, courses and workshops visit our calendar of events
