Dear Creative Friend, This is the last Sunday of the year. In my art, I (Tamara) notice I am looking back to move forward. I
notice as I create intentions for the New Year that themes continue to arrive to lead the way - themes of balance, light, radiating. I am always seeking through my art ways to deepen my understanding. This image arrived recently in Expressive Arts Discovery and a few days later the little bird shape fell out of some art materials. It was familiar, a little shape I had cut out a couple of years ago and held onto for some reason. It wanted to be placed on my image. Today, I noticed it is looking
back and looking forward, like the Sankofa image I made a few weeks ago. The threads of wisdom continue to weave themselves into my life through my art process whether I am aware of them or not. It is exciting to stop and notice what they offer, and to hear them speak.
The little bird arrived like a witness, a guide. The image spoke: I am slowing down to rise up. Quietly I rise, lifting up through Leaving one realm, entering another Passing through rhythmic waves I see forms taking shape. I stand calm, holding open
spaces A delicate balance As we pass through the threshold of the New Year this week, may we all remember how our images help us transform, integrate, and heal.
I found these words in the preface of the Second Edition to Poeisis by Stephen K. Levine (1992) - "If we can shape the fragments of our broken world into new forms, we can find again a place of meaning and value for our lives. Poiesis is an affirmation of the power of art to transform life". In this way, artmaking (poeisis) brings us hope for our future as we stand in the presence of the emergence of something new. May your images bring you hope and healing this New
Year. In case you missed our announcement last week and would like guidance on your art and healing journey, we are offering a 40% discount on the Art as a Healing Practice workshop series. This special price will remain in effect until January 31st. Use the coupon code NEWYEAR2025
The Art as a Healing Practice workshop series allowed me a safe place to reflect on my life and to claim areas that needed my attention and self-acknowledgement. - Linda Hansen https://linjart.com/

Love and blessings during this holiday season, and the upcoming year. Tamara, Kathleen, and the Expressive Arts Florida team
Next year is quickly approaching and we have several events to share with you! This week we will have our first workshop of the year! Online Annual Intention Setting is this Thursday and is the perfect time to meet in
creative community and discover your intentions for the upcoming year. We've been facilitating this workshop for over 15 years and always look forward to it. We're currently enrolling for a January start date with our Certificate
Training Program. If you haven't heard by now, 2025 is the last year the training program will be offered in its current form. It is also the last year Kathleen will be teaching full time. Application fees will be waived until January 1st for all new applicants. If the January start date does not work for you, we have a Level 1 course in April as well (EAFI 110). You can also take a Level 1 course as a stand alone course. If you would like to attend an upcoming
course or have questions, please email us at admin@expressiveartsflorida.com. Expressive Arts Discovery will be back on January 6th! Join us in this 90 minute guided workshop. We'll make art, tune in
