Dear Creative Friend, Creative time is spacious time. In Open Studio this week, spaciousness is one of the
themes that emerged during our sharing. Three hours dedicated to creativity in a supportive, inspiring and non-judgmental community seems to somehow open up a window in ourselves that extends far beyond that short time span. The theme of home emerged, too, as the space allows us to come home to ourselves. Our sharing of image, of song, and of words was also a sharing of tears, and of laughter. The air was filled with scent of jasmine that one participant brought to the
studio. Here are some of the words and images that were shared in the circle. Aware of time, the scent of
jasmine. a bow of mutual respect, so grateful. A place to untangle the yarn, making it real. Small kindnesses. Forgiveness holds the world together. Creative space within my mind, catching up in my journal, expressing my overwhelm, sharing energy, spirit, creativity. Lifelines and timelines, flowing from an invisible spring, things you value most might be built to go slow Invoking my miracle home sometimes inside and sometimes out. I feel like I am home here. It is forgiveness that leads us home. We are coming home... We
are going home... We are always home... Calming, relaxing, gentle, what it woke up in me - more kindness in the world.
- How do the themes of space and of home evoke in you?
- How does your creative practice feed these?
- Does a few minutes with your art journal or movement practice open up a window inside?
If you would you like to share any part of your own personal practice, you can do that in our private Facebook group. It is a sanctuary for witnessing one another. (If you are a new member, please be sure to answer the questions and agree to the rules. That helps us to
hold a safe and welcoming space.) |
Thank you for reading our newsletter. We will keep you posted as new plans emerge for us. For the remainder of 2025, we will be offering EAFI 220, 130, 210 and 200. We will be presenting at the IEATA conference in June, and at the online conference at the beginning of August. New workshops will soon be announced for the coming months. And we will share our plans for 2026 with you as soon as they are fully clear. In the meantime, Kathleen will be doing some
travelling, and we both plan to tend to new growth in the spaciousness of our arts practice.
With love and gratitude, Kathleen and
