Dear Creative Friend, Setting intentions through the natural world, guided meditation, creating a sand tray, bringing the tray to life through movement, sound, rhythm, and
writing........And that was only the beginning of a rich and inspirational day on Friday! Sand Soul and Metaphor - our collaborative training with the wonderful Eliana Gil, brought together a group of twenty therapists ready to experience nourishment and learning through intermodal expressive arts and sand therapies.
Thank you, fellow therapists, for joining us. We have such deep respect for you, and it was an honor to offer you processes to support yourselves and expand the work you do with your clients. The three of us (Tamara, Eliana, and myself) were delighted to join
together and offer the synergy of our combined experiential work. We look forward to future opportunities to do more of the same. Highlights of one participant's process - sand tray, visual art, writing.

We appreciate each participant for your courage, vulnerability, presence, and creativity. And thank you, Eliana, for your partnership! It was a beautiful day.
Filled with gratitude and inspiration at the end of a richly creative day. Try this: We hope you will take time this week for your own arts practice and listen within. If you haven't used sand before, give that a try if it is available to you. Or simply select some miniature objects from around your house, or gather some natural elements from outdoors. Designate a space on your desk, tabletop, or somewhere outdoors, and arrange your objects in a way that pleases you. Take it in with your eyes, your
heart, your body. Write in the voice of your tray beginning with "I am" or "I know". Then circle the phrases that stand out and, with them, create a short poetic writing. If you would you like to share, you can do that in our private Facebook group. It is a sanctuary for witnessing one another. (If you are a new member, please be sure to answer the
questions and agree to the rules. That helps us to hold a safe and welcoming space.) |
Thank you for reading our newsletter. We hope that by sharing some of our experiences, you will receive something meaningful, whether you are learning about the field, or have been engaged with it for a long time.
With love and gratitude, Kathleen, Tamara, and the Expressive Arts Florida
