Dear Creative Friend, I (Tamara) imagine as a conscious being you too wonder what matters most. Maybe you, like me, spend time
curating your life to care for what is most important to you. I wonder -when we get to the end of our lives or the world is going crazy around us, what matters more than anything? This is what we explored this week during a training day with heartfelt Hospice volunteers who spend time with people and their families at the end of their lives. Expressive arts is deeply meaningful and essential work. It helps us remember this life is precious and how we live it DOES
matter. Expressive arts practice helps us return to what matters most to us. It is through the arts that we express what we need to, become aware of our innermost desires, and move toward our dreams. In the presence of difficulty, sorrow, unexpected illness, or social unrest we need safe spaces to process and cultivate hope.
"What matters most to me is...." Love, connection, tending to, and being with, gratitude, truth, and community. It was so rewarding to co-facilitate with Liz Pascoe-Broome, an EAFI graduate and skilled facilitator - thank you Liz! We were also fortunate to have one of our students, Carmen Bales, with us for the day. Her input and participation enriched the experience for all. She shared her direct experience using expressive arts as a Hospice social worker. The day was filled with meaning, connection,
synchronicities, tenderness, laughter, and joy. Through the arts, each person was able to connect to what matters most to them, share that with another, and bring it to the circle where it was honored. This is why expressive arts means so much to me - and to our world. What matters most to you and how are you expressing that in your life? We invite you to consider these things, then make some art in a favorite modality and tell its story.
This week, we will be teaching a new course and look forward to meeting our students who are committed to this vital work, too. Enrollment is now open for our Certificate Training Program! The last start date for the program in time to get all of
the core courses this year is April 1-4 with EAFI 110 Dive Into Intermodal Expressive Arts. If you have questions, feel free to reach out or tune in for our next Live Q&A Session on Monday, March 10th after Expressive Arts Discovery.

We hope you will take time this week for your own arts practice and listen within. If you would you like to share your personal practice images, you can do that in our private Facebook group . It is a sanctuary for witnessing one another. (If you are a new member, please be sure to answer the questions and agree to the rules. That helps us to hold a safe and welcoming space.)
With love and gratitude, Tamara, Kathleen, and the Expressive Arts Florida
