It’s the moment when everyone brings their images back to the circle that often takes my breath away. Each person has experienced the same guided meditation, and then moved into quiet art-making, entering the mystery and drawing from the stream of inner creative wisdom. Witnessing the
incredible variety and richness of the images that arrive from our deep inner travels is a sacred experience that I consider a privilege and a joy - every time.
I remember the first time. It was 1995, in a workshop I was facilitating with some colleagues. The participants were mostly human services professionals who didn't consider themselves artists. I had the idea that if we started the art exploration with a guided
meditation, it would help participants access their natural creativity. I was new to this, and I was nervous. My nervousness transformed into excitement as I witnessed the participants emerge from the meditation, reach for a color and begin creating personally unique, powerful, authentic images. Their creations transcended the question of art skill or talent, and seemed to speak directly from the heart. This was a turning point for me. I knew in that moment that THIS is my work. I didn’t have a
name for it then, but that is when Art as a Healing Practice was born. This past Friday we held a zoom session for the 2024 online Art as a Healing Practice series. We honored the Winter Solstice with the theme: Light Emerging from Darkness. It was an exceptionally powerful gathering, bringing forth images and words that were imbued with a poetic wisdom that, I think,
entranced us all. My heart is still full, and I am so deeply grateful to be able to reach into the mystery within and to guide and inspire others on this journey.
Art as a Healing Practice in its most recent and comprehensive form, is a nine-lesson expressive arts immersion offered as a self-study format with 4 live zoom workshops per year. It incorporates guided meditation, nature-witnessing, art-making, intermodal
explorations, and writing. It is carefully designed to assist you in discovering a practice that can enhance your life by cultivating a close relationship to what I have come to call ‘creative wisdom’. We have created for you a new complimentary resource for you - Light Emerging from Darkness, based on Friday's winter solstice theme. And we are opening Art as a Healing
Practice for you at a deeply discounted price. Art as a Healing Practice is like viewing yourself through the lens of art and nature. Kathleen is a fantastic facilitator and I would never hesitate to take a workshop or class from her. - Karee Stosich Access the free resource

The Art as a Healing Practice workshop series allowed me a safe place to reflect on my life and to claim areas that needed my attention and self-acknowledgement. - Linda Hansen https://linjart.com/ We welcomed a small but mighty group into the studio on Thursday for our annual Intention Setting event. As always, it too was a powerful time of listening deeply within through guided meditation, and, through art-making, setting our course for 2025. Thanks so much to each person who came and helped to activate one another’s
intentions through spontaneous expressiions of intermodal expressive arts. The online version is coming up on January 2.
