Hello
Creative Friend, Â Whether in-person or online, the title 'Open Studio' does not begin to describe what happens in the space. One person in this week's gathering described it as an 'energy exchange'. With 12 deeply engaged people in the room, some of what emerged from the creative cauldron were mixed media journal pages, a mandorla of polarity, a powerful journal entry, a dream image, an image of synthesis, a watercolor painting in response to
the flood, a sharing of stones with messages, and much more. A collaborative poem arrived, along with tears, laughter and big sighs. Focus You are a gift Nurture your dreams Healing
thoughts Speak your truth Do it with LOVE Celebrate your gifts Slow down Simplify Notice Â
Kathleen shares her image. Since the hurricanes and the election, I have been feeling like all the pieces of what seemed predictable have been thrown up in the air, and have fallen around me. I am sifting and sorting through the pieces of my life - both external and internal - deciding what I can keep and where it fits now. My
art reflects pieces finding a new and yet unrecognizable whole, and it feels great to allow the slow movement of the colored pencils on paper to lead me into the awareness of new possibilities. To do this process in a safe, caring community is a gift beyond measure.
Tamara shares her images: I have been contemplating how to find more rest in the spaces in between all the things I balance and the intrusive energy of the outside world. There always seems to be so much to do and it is challenging to do it all. A few years ago a friend shared the idea of "resting on purpose" with me. What a wonderful
concept. I manage many many things every day and learning to BE rather than DO has always been a challenge. Now, it seems more important than ever. In the weeks since the hurricanes and the election, I notice the need even more. To slow down, notice, be mindful. My images shared with me the importance of "finding the current in the chaos" and "dreaming into spaciousness". May you rest, may you feel a spaciousness open within you. May you find the current in the
chaos.Â
If you haven't joined us for any of our Open Studios we encourage you to do so. They are a wonderful opportunity to creatively 'be with' whatever emotions you are carrying, and what creative impulses are awakening in you, and to witness one another. They are donation based and a great way to connect with others. You can see the
schedule for upcoming Open Studio sessions here.  If you're interested in our Certificate Training Program the next start date is in January, and we'll be having 2 Live Q&A sessions. One on November 20th and the other on December 7th. In these sessions we'll cover everything you need to know about the program, answer any questions you may have and introduce you to a short expressive arts practice.  To close out the year, we also have 2 more Expressive Arts Discovery sessions; one is tomorrow, November 18th and the other is on December 12th. These differ from Open Studios in that they are guided workshops. We start with a short guided meditation, move into artmaking, maybe a little movement and then some writing. We close with witnessing and
sharing.Â
We have 1 more SoulCollage® workshop to close out the year in December where we will celebrate the Winter Solstice. This workshop will be in person and will take place after our final In
Person Open Studio of the year! Join us for one session or both and give yourself a full day of creative self-care. Â Â Our final workshop in the Imagining the Sacred series, "The Spiritual Director: Presence and Role" is December 6th. Â This workshop will explore our role as spiritual directors through the arts, ways of attending to our
practice, and noticing how we are growing and changing in response to this work. Â To see a schedule of all upcoming events, courses and workshops visit our calendar of events
here. Â |
Would you like to share your personal practice images? Our private Facebook group is a sanctuary for witnessing one another. It is not a place to share or promote your professional work; it is a place to share the images the arise from your deepest creative wisdom. (If you are a new member, please be sure to answer the questions and agree to the rules. That helps us to hold a safe and welcoming space.)Â
We hope to see you in the circle soon. With gratitude, Tamara, Kathleen & the
