Dear Creative Friends, Here is Florida, it feels like we have
turned a corner toward the light already and we are having some days filled with warm sun and cool breezes. It is still a time for seeds that have been planted by our intentions at the begining of the year to germinate beneath the surface; but we can sense the energy stirring inside. While on a hike this week, I (Tamara) witnessed a beautiful river
bending naturally through the wilderness. The water was still, calm, and the sky above clear and blue. I was reminded that in the stillness, there is reflection. It felt aligned with the featured self-study course this week - Hands of Light- in which we sit in the stillness and listen to what is wanting to be birthed, brought forward through our hands and hearts. So much of expressive arts practice is about listening. Just being with. Noticing and allowing the impulses within to be expressed, one mark or movement at a time.
Try this - sit quietly in a comfortable place and listen within, allowing your breath to easily move in and out. You might close your eyes or focus on something you see that inspires you. Notice what stirs within. Is there a slight movement of your body as your breath
rises and falls? Do you sense something that is waiting to be expressed? Is it a color or a movement or a sound? Begin there and follow it. Allow yourself to be with the stillness and just notice. Then begin to make marks or move your body and see where it takes you. Doing this for even a few moments can be helpful and inspiring. We hope you will take some time to be still,
listen, and reflect. Allow your inner voice to be heard, danced, painted, or written on the page. And we hope to see you in the circle soon!
In gratitude, Kathleen, Tamara and the EAFI Team

This week we are continuing to integrate all that has happened since the beginning of the year. Integrating, processing & reflecting are all big components of expressive arts and life in general. There are always internal shifts happening, both big and small, that
shape who we are and that continue to happen as time goes on. We invite you to reflect on anything that has happened for you since the beginning of the year as well...things you may have learned, new ideas you've had or revelations. We also invite you to perhaps reconnect with someone you haven't spoken to in a while and maybe set up a time to talk or create
together. It's so important to nourish ourselves not just creatively, but also in community. If you are looking for some ideas, we encourage you to take a look at our self-study programs and see if something resonates with you. |
