Dear Friday was a beautiful day of learning from the trees, and we thank each person who showed up to
explore with us. Preceded by an inspirational Open Studio, the If I Were a Tree workshop began with
visiting and deeply witnessing the trees around the campus. Movement meditation, art-making, intermodal explorations, and a writing that called forth the wisdom of each person's unique tree made for an afternoon of deep learning, creativity, and sharing.
We invite you to look more deeply at the trees around you, to notice the details of their bark, roots, seasonal changes, age, and how it might feel to be that tree. Your curious and attentive witnessing will likely result in you learning a lot - about the tree, and
about yourself. Try this creative exploration: Ask yourself: If I were a tree, what would I look like? Feel like? What shape, height? What is my bark like? My branching, flowers, seeds, fruit? Create yourself as a tree. Embody it. Write, in its' voice, and see what it has to tell you. Here is an example, from Tamara
