Are you familiar with the REACE (Registered Expressive Arts Consultant/Educator) credential? Do you understand how REACE work is different from REAT (Registered Expressive Arts Therapist) work? REACE is a professional registration through IEATA that reflects a level of mastery in facilitating the expressive arts in fields such as education, spiritual direction, healthcare, business, community programming, conflict transformation, and more. At EAFI we are dedicated to
lifting up the work of both REACE's and REAT's, and of those who are on the pathway to becoming either. Both of our upcoming Professional Development presenters are REACE's - Susan O'Connell and Topaz Weis - and, in their workshops, they are offering you unique examples of the kind of work a REACE does in the world. We are very excited to host each of them, as
they are dear friends and colleagues as well.
The field of Expressive Arts encompasses a broad scope of practice. If you are practicing or studying expressive arts, where does your work (actual or imagined) fit into this scope? What is
your vision as you manifest your work more fully? And, if your expressive arts practice is personal, how does it impact your life, and others around you? Try this: Here is a brief process to assist you with developing, refining, or shifting your own vision. Start by finding a quiet space, getting in a comfortable
position.
- Imagine that it is some time in the future, perhaps a year or two. You are in the place that you are doing your Expressive Arts work. This is the
place where you
you have manifested your work exactly the way you want. - In your mind’s eye, notice where you are, and what the environment is like. Is it indoors or outdoors? Is it large or small? What is the energy
like?
- Take in the details. What do you surround yourself with? What are your expressive arts tools?
- Notice….how are you feeling here?
- Take a look around you. Do you work alone, or are there other people with you? Who are your clients, students, or participants? What is your role with them? What impact do you have on them? If your practice is personal, how does it affect your life?
- What is it that makes your work or practice 'YOU'?
- Make some notes, create an image, let your image speak its truth, starting with the words I am…
Post in the FB group if you like. In this beautiful expressive arts work, we are all here to support one another. Each voice is unique and important.
