Last week we learned about powerful work happening in Africa and Central America as our Expressive Arts in the World series continued. As I (Tamara) reflect on the time spent with presenters and students, I am struck by the reslience in the
populations served through the programs shared. Lillian Obonyo and Sarala Tamang of Harambee Arts presented with founder Gloria Simoneaux about the programs in Kenya and Nepal, sharing a message of "let's pull together" and love. Powerful messages of growing love were followed by planting seeds of color led by the Guatemalan team Mayari Hernandez, Evelyn Ammon, Paulina Buonafina, and Pili Garin working with populations recovering from natural disasters and living with illness. Witnessing stories
of community and healing through expressive arts offered hope beyond their borders. One seed at a time, we plant hope that grows when we use our collective imaginations to support one another. Together, we can heal the world. Something grew inside me We planted seeds of color Meeting in the silent moments Opened the eyes of our hearts Showers of love, honeybee hums and Butterfly hugs Nurtured seeds planted deep within Empowering souls to transform and heal Rising above, coming together Giving wings to prayer seeds of hope We grew love ~Tamara We invite you to spend some time creating a guiding image of love and hope for yourself. Awaken your body first, by moving in gentle ways that feel soothing, wrap your arms around yourself like butterfly wings and tap your shoulders, gently stroke your face with your hands, and breathe in deeply. Breathe in love, breathe out worry and stress. Release anything not needed in
this moment. Open your heart to your love. Make an image using colors. Listen to its voice and write down its message. Speak its message out loud to yourself to receive it. May you be loved. May you feel hope. May you be happy. As always, if you would like to share your process or anything coming up for you, we
invite you to connect in our Facebook group.
We have shared our images and blessings from yesterday's workshop. This week, we will continue our journey around the world and plant more seeds through expressive arts and hope you will join us. With gratitude, Tamara, Kathleen, and the Expressive Arts Florida Team |
