Dear , Happy Fall
Equinox! The change in season represents a turn toward the natural cycle of moving inward and is imbued with the promise of abundance and harvest of all the efforts put forth over the course of spring and summer! In Florida this weekend, we felt the subtle shift of a slight decrease in humidity, teasing us with the promise of autumn. The light and breeze have softened just a bit. The shift in the natural world invites us to soften inwardly with self-compassion and reflect on how we balance life,
work, family, and creativity with kindness and love. The Equinox represents balance. We might consider that what is above, is also below; and the outer life reflects the inner life. In a recent podcast interview with Reina Lombardi of Creative Clinician's Corner, we shared how we practice self-compassion through expressive arts and why it is important. Our practices give us ways to find
balance, to reflect, and to honor the cycles of nature and our lives. We invite you to listen to the podcast episode here. We will share a specific self-compassion practice during the Expressive Therapies Summit on November 16. One way to offer gentle self-compassion to ourselves is to have fun, which we did during our time with H. Fay Wilkinson on Friday. We offer our gratitude to Fay for the joyful sharing of new ways to make marks, listen with presence, and follow our creative thread in intermodal process and storytelling. We invite you to experiment with some new ways to make marks, to slow down and notice how you are feeling within, create some characters and write your story of balance and light at this time.
