Dear Creatives, This past weekend we participated in the IEATA conference with people from all over the world and it was incredible! We presented a workshop entitled "Emerge: Listening Deeply through Expressive Arts Practice" and participated in many others. Photo from our IEATA workshop! The biggest thing to happen this weekend though, was that Kathleen has been awarded the honor of Shining Star for
IEATA!!! She has been a guiding light for so many by bringing expressive arts to Sarasota and dedicating her career to furthering this work in the world. " 'Shining Star' represents a guiding light inspiring us as we navigate the birth of the expressive arts field and IEATA. It is an award to honor one of our pioneers who has contributed tremendously to developing the field of expressive arts and had also contributed to the formation and growth of our organization." - IEATA Congratulations, Kathleen!!! 🌟 This week we invite you to take a few moments to either move, make art, write or do whatever you feel called to do as you ponder your own shining attributes. 🌟 How are you a shining star in your own life? This workshop will present different approaches and uses of the expressive arts in different environments of the reality of Guatemala. You will learn
about the use of expressive arts in four main themes in Guatemala.
1. Program of interventions when dealing with a natural disaster
2. Hospital program
3. FOAT training at a private
university
4. Introduction of the person-centered approach in expressive arts in rural communities
One intervention on expressive arts of each theme will be shared. |
This workshop will explore the work of First Aid of the Soul, a 501c(3) nonprofit, launched in March 2022, formed in response to Russian/Ukrainian war with the
mission of providing free mental health support to Ukrainians affected by the war. A global collective of
clinical experts from the expressive and creative arts fields was mobilized to deliver accessible trauma-informed mental health and psychosocial support services to Ukrainians through multifaceted, holistic, and creative approaches. This workshop will explore the framework that the core clinical team has been developing since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Through discussing the challenges and obstacles faced in offering our services, and how we have been implementing creative interventions within this work to build a sense of belonging, empowerment, dignity and
compassion. The workshop will also address the importance of what it means to hold space that is culturally sensitive, beyond language barriers, trauma-informed, and meets the needs of those we aim to serve.

circle, we will engage poetic medicine as a means of encouraging our hearts to open more fully in our daily lives. Together, we will create a poetic sanctuary within the community. This integrated poetic medicine process encourages our innate ways of knowing such as our imagination, intuition, and an embodied mode of participation. We will read, listen, and be invited to respond to the poetry of the earth. The poetic invitations aim to encourage remembrance, deep listening, self-awareness,
compassion, and gratitude. Cultivating these qualities benefits us and the world around us as they encourage generative acts of reciprocity. As our hearts open, we expand our recognition of being woven within the human and other than human world. This can offer healing and a sense of belonging even as it kindles the fires of love. We begin to hear and respond to voices of earth, and the heart songs that call us.
This workshop will engage spiritual directors in an expressive arts process to deepen their understanding of
their role as spiritual director. Through guided meditation, artmaking, movement, and sound exploration, we will explore and play with the ways the expressive arts bring us into a deepening relationship with Mystery. Renee is a graduate of EAFI

EAFI 130: Scope of Expressive Arts: Individual, Group &
Community is a Level 1 course in the Certificate Training Program and an opportunity to adapt the focus of expressive arts processes from intrapersonal to interpersonal, group and community. Both individual and collaborative expressive arts processes are utilized in this course, and some attention is given to designing and facilitating collaborative art projects. Pre-requisite: This is one of the core Level One courses in our Certificate Training Program. Creative Wisdom Introductory Training Welcome Lesson and Lesson 1 are required prior to beginning a Level One course. |
