Dear Creative One, As we continue to take a pause from offering workshops for the month of July, and are taking some time for self-care, connecting through creativity at the IEATA conference, vacations and family visits, we would like to offer you the following intention for your process this week:
Reflection. This week we would like to invite you to reflect over the past 6 months. Feel free to do whatever process feels right for you. July is the midpoint of the year, and an excellent time to
take a pause and look at any resolutions you may have set for yourself, or things you wanted to achieve and make happen and see how that has gone for you. Sometimes (often times) things do not go as planned and we have to pivot and adjust to what is presented, and that's ok. Other times things work out better than what we expected. What were some things you achieved this year so far? Were there any surprises? What have been some of your favorite moments? It is also a time to celebrate any wins you have had, big or small. We are big believers in celebrating even the tiniest things, because together the tiniest things make up a larger picture of life. If things have not gone the way
you thought they would go this year, there are still things to celebrate. There are always silver linings and there are always new ways to look at things and fresh perspectives to take. As
always, if you would like to share your reflection process and/or responses, feel free to post in our Facebook group. We would love to hear from you and connect! Creatively yours, The Expressive Arts Florida Team |
| Emerging Voices: The Arts as
Mirror with Fiona Chang August 15, 2023 6-8:30 pm edt on zoom |
Fiona Chang, PhD, REAT, RSW, is from Hong Kong and is an expressive arts therapist, lecturer, and founding president of the Expressive Arts Therapy Association of Hong Kong. This workshop explores the expressive arts as multifaceted mirrors reflecting our inner happenings. In the creative healing process, we give ourselves the permission to explore, play, focus, listen, understand, and accept. We learn a better way to get along with ourselves and
find a peaceful and healthy inner balance. It is helpful for us to be aware of the relationships between our body, mind, and spirit in relation to our surrounding context. Through artistic and creative practice, our self-awareness and wellness are enhanced. |
| Honouring Nature and Transitions in Life: Tribal art in India with Belinda Rego and Chandini Harlalka August 19, 2023 10-12:30 pm edt on zoom |
Indigenous Art in India may only be understood by seeing it as a part of life and integral to it. The wisdom of these traditions welcomed and honoured the
cycles in nature and life. They saw themselves as an inseparable part of a greater universe where transitions were sacred and deserved/demanded art, ritual, and partnership with the Divine. Their relationship with nature was of respectful exchange and guardianship of the earth. Their Art was the expression of the creative force that gave life meaning and symbolised the sacred harmony and unity with Nature. This workshop is an invitation into their world and some of their art forms and to find a
way that we can honour and celebrate our own cycles and transitions. Expressive Arts in the World! Starting August 7 Join the global connection and learn from these leaders! These workshops are open to everyone! Whether you are a student in our Certificate Training Program, an expressive

The goal of this workshop is to provide participants with an opportunity to step into the imaginal realms, release preconceived notions of who or what they are, and consider
their unique inner, creative, landscapes as personalized playgrounds for divine connection and spiritual transformation. Learn more about Terra in her Alumni Spotlight! |

SAVE the DATE! Registration for the following workshops will open soon. In this poetry
circle, we will engage poetic medicine as a means of encouraging our hearts to open more fully in our daily lives. Together, we will create a poetic sanctuary within the community. This integrated poetic medicine process encourages our innate ways of knowing such as our imagination, intuition, and an embodied mode of participation. We will read, listen, and be invited to respond to the poetry of the earth. The poetic invitations aim to encourage remembrance, deep listening, self-awareness,
compassion, and gratitude. Cultivating these qualities benefits us and the world around us as they encourage generative acts of reciprocity. As our hearts open, we expand our recognition of being woven within the human and other than human world. This can offer healing and a sense of belonging even as it kindles the fires of love. We begin to hear and respond to voices of earth, and the heart songs that call us. This workshop will engage spiritual directors in an expressive arts process to deepen their understanding of
their role as spiritual director. Through guided meditation, artmaking, movement, and sound exploration, we will explore and play with the ways the expressive arts bring us into a deepening relationship with Mystery. Renee is a graduate of EAFI
and a Spiritual Director. Learn more about her in our July Alumni Spotlight! |
