Happy Earth Day Weekend! This week we gathered online and in person for creative connection and renewal. We also spent time with the trees, flowers, plants, birds, grass, sky, and breeze to Embrace the Wisdom of Nature following in-person Open Studio. It was such a
gift to share some time with the more than human world right outside the window. We each found something that captured our attention and then took it in with our senses, responded in art, and witnessed through a variety of modalities. Such rich and wise messages were shared through the time spent in Nature and with one another. We offer special thanks to those who attended and to Linda Joffe for sharing her Earth Prayer that helped us bring the gift of song and dance into our closing
circle. We hope you found a way to honor Mother Earth and your connection to the natural world this weekend and we invite you to consider your own Ecological Self through expressive arts practice. Here is one way to do that if you would like a place to begin: Ecological Self Expressive Arts Practice. “The earth is our origin and destination. The ancient rhythms of the earth have insinuated themselves into the rhythms of the human heart. The
earth is not outside us; it is within: the clay from where the tree of the body grows. When we emerge from our offices, rooms and houses, we enter our natural element. We are children of the earth: people to whom the outdoors is home. Nothing can separate us from the vigour and vibrancy of this inheritance. In contrast to our frenetic, saturated lives, the earth offers a calming stillness. Movement and growth in nature takes time. The patience of nature enjoys the ease of trust and hope. There
is something in our clay nature that needs to continually experience this ancient, outer ease of the world. It helps us remember who we are and why we are here.” ― John O'Donohue, Beauty: The Invisible Embrace With love, and deep respect for Earth and gratitude for our connection through expressive arts, Tamara and
