Hello Friends. I had the opportunity recently to take a long beach walk at a very low tide. Later, at home, still touched by the magnificence and vulnerability of what was revealed, I found myself reflecting on lessons, messages and questions arising within me in
response.
The shoreline, or the intertidal zone, is the place where two worlds overlap and interact, and it is vitally important to life and health both on land and in the sea. Low tide reveals hidden jewels, potential threats, glimpses into how things work and how things connect, new
questions, and deeper mysteries. In our human psyches, I am fascinated by this zone - the place where the inner and the outer, the invisible and the visible, the unconscious and the conscious interact. An expressive arts practice allows us to enter this space, to witness and attend to the inner world as it shapes outer choices and actions, and to notice how the circumstances of our outer life affect our values and beliefs. By attending to the natural world with open-hearted curiosity and love,
we become better stewards not only of the planet, but of our own health and wellbeing. - Kathleen
We invite you to join us in a newly created, spacious, full-day opportunity to engage with the natural world and investigate that vital inner 'shoreline' place of mystery, jewels, and possibility. Kathleen and Tamara will guide you as we explore this territory together in Restoring
Balance on Friday August 5. Our previous email showed the wrong date, we apologize and look forward to seeing you.
Restoring Balance: Exploring Your Ecological Self Through Expressive Arts Practice
with Kathleen Horne and Tamara Teeter Napp
Friday August 5th
10am-5 pm EDT
Online via Zoom
Explore the concept of your Ecological Self, through an intermodal, nature – informed expressive arts process. What is your relationship to the natural world? How has your ecological awareness been shaped and developed over time? Through this gentle and powerful process, listen deeply for any messages that are emerging, and come away with a commitment/intention. Our ecological self is our broad, expansive sense of self, related not only to other humans but also to our home—the living earth—and the nonhuman others that co-inhabit it. Come prepared to witness, to meditate, to make images, to move gently, to write, to share and collaborate. We will set a safe and accepting container for creative engagement with yourself and with others. No prior experience is necessary. Your willingness and full
presence are the only requirements.
