Many of you experienced Hector Aristizabal's keynote at the IEATA Conference. We are honored to welcome him as part of Our Professional Development Series. Next Monday Hector will share his deeply healing work as he guides us on an exploration of our
relationship to the natural world: What we have lost, and what we can return to...
Reconnecting to Our Own Nature and the Soul of the World
with Hector Aristizabal
Monday June 13th
6pm-8:30pm EDT
How can Deep Ecology and The Work that Reconnects illuminate the work that we do as expressive arts practitioners? The world's ecosystems and social systems seem to be collapsing under the unsustainable effects of the Industrial Growth Society and its devastating
exploitation of nature. Our delusional belief that we are separate from nature or above nature has guided the hubris of our destructive behavior to the point of causing the sixth mass extinction of what some have called the Antropocene.
Hector was born and raised in Medellín, Colombia where he worked as a therapist and as a theater actor director until he was forced into exile due to persecution for his human rights activism. In the US, he worked as a therapist and developed original plays with immigrants,
torture survivors, incarcerated youth, gang members, AIDS/HIV infected people and people in Hospice care.
In the year 2000, he founded ImaginAction to help people tap the transformative power of theater in programs throughout the US, Latin America, Europe, Africa, The Middle East and many Asian countries. He has worked mostly in war-torn and post conflict zones training psicosocial teams and
using theater as a laboratory to explore alternatives to conflict and as a path to design healing rituals.
In 2017, he decided to return to his native country to work in the reconciliation process inspired by the peace agreement between the FARC guerrilla and the Colombian government. With the project Reconectando, www.reconectando.org he is currently accompanying the truth commission using deep ecology, theater and ritual to work with victims and ex-combatants in the complex task of clarifying the truth, creating spaces for reconciliation and imagining the conditions for the no repetition of the violence.
Art and ritual have offered us symbolic paths for healing our connection to our deep soul as ways to connect to the soul of the world. Let's explore together some of these paths!
SoulCollage® Council Suit: Mother Archetype
with Diane Lampitt, M.Ed
SoulCollage® Facilitator.
Thursday June 16th
6pm-9pm EDT
on Zoom
What does the Archetype Great Mother, the Divine Feminine, or Mother Earth mean to you? The Great Mother is the oldest of all archetypal forms. She represents fertility, she controls nature, she is both patient and fierce, and so much more! Join us
for this SoulCollage® workshop as we explore the Council Suit with a focus on the Great Mother and explore how this energy resonates within you.
This is an invitation to take a deep dive into the process of SoulCollage®, to learn about and explore the Council suit. Cards in the Council Suit represent different archetypal energies, energies that are universal patterns or themes. Some of these Larger Story archetypes enter and
act in one’s personal and local story. They are guides and challengers, as in the other suits, but on a larger scale. Your Council cards may help you identify your unique and personal purpose. We will place a focus on the various archetypes representing Mother energy.
"There's a crucial difference between doing SoulCollage® cards by oneself and doing them in community--even in virtual community! The sense of the other participants somehow informs the images with added meaning and imbues the whole experience with a sense of connection."
-Rachelle O.
Pre-registration is necessary as a SoulCollage® kit will be mailed to you. U.S. residents please register 1 week prior to workshop date. International Participants can still register but may need to provide their own materials as the mailing deadline has
passed.

From Chaos to Flow; From Flow to Stillness
with Mitchell Kossak
Thursday June 23rd
6pm-8:30pm EDT
In this workshop we will explore the different kinds of rhythmic energies that might be guiding our mind/body connections. The ability to charge and discharge energy or tension in the body are important aspects of health. Being rhythmically attuned to tension patterns, how tension is built and
released in breathing patterns, movement, sound, art making, poetry is an important aspect of health and well-being. When we regulate our rhythms, it also reaches beyond our individual self, connecting into an extended field of resonance to others in our lives, communities and to a greater collective consciousness. In this workshop we will explore different ways that engagement in art activities can help us to re-regulate our psychobiology, bringing us back in alignment with our true
self.

EXPRESSIVE ARTS THERAPY
Telehealth and in-person
Tamara Teeter Knapp, MA, REACE, NCC, MHC Intern
Expressive arts therapy is a multimodal, holistic approach to counseling. It acknowledges the complexity of human experience by facilitating the client in exploring all aspects of the self, by inquiring through the imagination and the body about subjective experience, and expanding the play space to allow for new possibilities and shifts in consciousness that lead to desired changes in one’s
life. More
OUR MISSION
Through workshops, programs, certificate training, and therapy Expressive Arts Florida Institute empowers individuals, groups and communities by cultivating the creative wisdom inherent in all.
