Dear
You are a valued member of the Expressive Arts Florida community, and we want to keep you updated on new developments as we recap and move forward.
At the onset of the pandemic, we took all of our programming online. This was a huge leap of faith, and we are delighted to report that it worked out well. We offer a heartfelt thanks to all of the amazing new students who showed up, from around the world, and joined with us as we
discovered how to create an online training program that upheld the same high quality and standards that we expect and count on. We gave up our physical studio space last December as we were using it very little. All of our workshops and open studios were moved online as well, and a consistent community of people have continued to come together for creative expression and support.
As we move into the summer of 2022, we are taking stock, making plans, cooking up new ideas, and navigating some changes.
Victoria Domenichello-Anderson, treasured EAFI co-founder, is stepping away from the business to pursue her personal arts practice and other creative pursuits. We will miss Victoria, and we support her decision and wish her the very best.
We strive to be a business which honors life changes and transitions, shifting and growing accordingly.
We are deeply grateful to our team of four amazing graduate mentors: Brandy King, Susan Paul Johnson, Theresa Foster, and Renee Bhatia. They guide our certificate students through the training program with remarkable skill, care, and dedication. Liz
Pascoe-Broome, also an EAFI graduate writes our Sunday
e-newsletters and answers inquiries, in her role as publicity/outreach support.
Tamara is building her Expressive Arts Therapy practice through EAFI, bringing a much needed service to the community.
And, while we have learned that a vibrant learning space is very do-able online, there is something about your fully embodied presence in the same room that of course cannot be replaced. We miss you!
We have scheduled two courses in-person - EAFI 130 and 210 - in Sarasota, in October. We are currently deciding on the location, and will announce that very soon. You can see the course schedule on our website here.
While we are continuing our full online programming, including Kathleen's Art as a Healing Practice, Diane Lampitt's SoulCollage, and Anne Hofland's Expressive Writing, we are also looking at offering an in-person Open Studio and other workshops again in the coming months.
In the last month, Tamara and Kathleen offered an in-person expressive arts training with volunteers at Tidewell Hospice. This was a beautiful day spent creating with lovely people, in service of a mission with a big heart. And, Tamara presented "The Art of Therapy" at Carrollwood Cultural Center in Tampa, Florida. We want thank
Ashley Lord for the opportunity to share with her community.
Our third year of Professional Development training workshops is under way with 3 sessions so far - Maria Gonzalez-Blue, Pat B. Allen & Rabbi Adina Allen, and Markus G. Scott-Alexander. It is an honor to bring Expressive Arts leaders from around the world to you to enhance your
training!
A new membership program to support and promote EAFI graduates will be announced soon.
We will be taking a break in July from scheduled events to renew, rejuvenate, and incubate some creative ideas.
You can find all our offerings listed on our website, and watch for this Sunday's e-news as usual.
With warm regards and much gratitude,
Tamara and Kathleen
