In this workshop, you will be invited to look within and explore your current emotional state. This is a powerful and helpful way to connect with yourself in the present moment, and bring your compassionate mindful attention to your inner experience.
By considering our emotions as a landscape, we are invited to move from the literal to the imaginal and to engage with the complexity of the inner territory and discover its wisdom through image-making and writing.

As your guide, I will offer you some creative invitations to encounter this theme, and you can engage with it in your own way.
Your Creative Self

Explore your Ecological Self, through an integrated expressive arts process. What is your relationship to the natural world? How has your ecological awareness been shaped and developed over time? Through this gentle and powerful process, listen deeply for any messages that are emerging.
We are not separate from the natural world. By developing an awareness of our ecological self, we begin to heal the split and live the connection with increased consciousness and intention.
Exploring a Polarity: The Mandorla
Monday October 17
6-9 pm EDT
What are you currently experiencing as a polarity, or point of tension in your life? Perhaps it is something that you go back and forth on, and resolution is elusive.
In this step-by-step expressive arts process, create a mandorla (Venn diagram, Vesica Piscis) as a powerful container to explore that polarity in a new way. The mandorla is a geometric form that is made up of 2 overlapping circles. Through art-making and writing, a new path is invited to emerge.

'Mandala' is a Sanskrit word meaning 'sacred circle' or simply 'circle'. Discover the gentle power of creating a personal mandala to invoke centering and integration.

The Art as a Healing Practice created by Kathleen Horne has always been a favorite. I really enjoy the different prompts and creative applications used to lead me on a new journey of self discovery about an aspect of self. Buried wisdoms and affirmations reveal themselves in color, line and theme as
Kathleen gently guides and holds the space to witness and be witnessed in group. Each workshop is an important stand alone, to later be integrated and harvested again in an exciting final cumulative piece. Weaving together clarity, insights and intentions to inform my present and ongoing life course. So many possibilities for healing, transformation and growth. -Julia A.
Art as a Healing Practice is designed to be a creative, growth-enhancing, self-discovery experience. It is not psychotherapy, nor is it expressive arts training; it can, however, be a powerful complement to either. Questions? Email
