and the whole Expressive Arts Florida team!
How are you entering 2022?
With so much chaos, tragedy and uncertainty around us, how do we center and ground ourselves, set our course. and align with the truth of our inner wisdom? How do we empower ourselves?
In the flow of our lives, there is a deeper knowing than we are aware of consciously. Even when external circumstances seem to be pointing us in one direction, or when we are mired in confusion or uncertainty, there is always a deep river of knowing moving beneath the surface. How do we access that river?
Many of us get there through the arts, through the body, through dreams. A reliable way to discover and connect with what is going on at a deeper level is to spend a few minutes in meditation, and then to make a visual image, explore that image in the body, and write from the voice of the image. Sometimes, we also use sound or rhythm exploration as part of this. What is revealed is what we have come to
call creative wisdom. If you haven’t tried this, we invite you to.
This is what we do in our annual Intention Setting workshop, coming up this Wednesday January 5, live online.
Like spring secretly at work within the heart of winter, below the surface of our lives huge changes are in fermentation.
John O'Donohue
Re-setting our internal compass is so important, especially as we are living in a sea of uncertainty. It is both difficult and essential that we discover and re-connect with a place of internal deep knowing, so that we can move forward in our lives from that place, whether it is expressed through personal healing, creative work,
improved relationships, refinement of purpose, or social action.
We must learn to live each day, each hour, yes, each minute as a new beginning, as a unique opportunity to make everything new. Imagine that we could live each moment as a moment pregnant with new life. Imagine that we could live each day as a day full of promises.
Henri J. M. Nouwen

EXPRESSIVE ARTS THERAPY
Telehealth and in-person
Tamara Teeter Knapp, MA, REACE, NCC, MHC Intern
Expressive arts therapy is a multimodal, holistic approach to counseling. It acknowledges the complexity of human experience by facilitating the client in exploring all aspects of the self, by inquiring through the imagination and the body about subjective experience, and expanding the play space to allow for new possibilities and shifts in consciousness that lead to desired changes in one’s
life. More
