Dear Creative Ones,
Happy Summer Solstice! Today is the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere and a day that marks a significant point in the solar calendar. Some of you may know that although we are based in Florida, the three of us all grew up in northern climates and I spent a lot of time growing up in Alaska as a
youth and young adult.
Back home, “less than 150 miles south of the Arctic Circle, you’ll find Fairbanks, Alaska, one of the best places in the United States to celebrate the summer solstice. With the ground often still blanketed in snow in June,
Alaskans embrace the light-filled respite their brief summer provides. In Fairbanks, daylight lasts a full 24 hours around the solstice, so there’s plenty of time to attend the numerous events, that comprise the city’s famous Midnight Sun Festival. “ It is an exciting time when you are that far north and it doesn’t get dark, you don’t need a flashlight while you’re camping, and you generally feel energized and excited about life after a long cold, dark winter.
As many of us begin to emerge from the pandemic and what feels like a winter period, this solstice feels particularly welcome as an invitation to celebrate the light.
We invite you to connect with your own creative wisdom and cultivate your inner light through expressive arts practice. You might like to spend some time outdoors, make art while sitting with a tree or by the creek, take in a sunset, or begin a new practice that nourishes you and supports your creativity and well-being. If
you want some new inspiration and practices to try, we hope you will take advantage of our Summer Solstice sale to infuse your creative practice. We also welcome you to share what you are doing to cultivate the light within your own creative spirit in our private Facebook group. Finding ways to connect within and in
community nourishes and cultivates the light we share and what we believe is that our world needs your light even more now than ever.
With love and light,
Tamara

Expressive arts therapy is a multimodal, holistic approach to counseling. It acknowledges the complexity of human experience by facilitating the client in exploring all aspects of the self, by inquiring through the imagination and the body about subjective experience, and expanding the play space to allow for new possibilities and shifts in consciousness that lead to desired changes in one’s life.
